This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop product knowledge in preparation for the sales process.

You will learn to solve a defined range of unpredictable problems, analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources, as well as how to provide leadership and guidance to others while holding some limited responsibility for their output.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to analyse consumer behaviour for markets and specific needs.

You will learn how to analyse consumer behaviour to examine factors that impact decisions to purchase products or services, how to conduct a thorough analysis of consumer attitudes and behaviour, and how to make recommendations on marketing strategies to increase consumption of the product or service being marketed.

You will learn what is required to identify potential sales prospects by applying prospecting methods, and how to manage your own sales performance by establishing a sales plan while managing stress, time and sales-related paperwork.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to develop a sales plan for a product or service for a team covering a specified sales territory based on strategic objectives and in accordance with established performance targets.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and review a sales and promotional strategy for a financial services organisation.

You will learn what is required to present sales solutions that respond to specific buying needs of a client, and how to use sales processes associated with securing prospect commitment to proceed with a sale.

You will also learn how to attend to post-sales activities that build and strengthen the partnership between a salesperson and client, and enhance the likelihood of future sales.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and improve client relationships and to actively participate in networks to support attainment of key business outcomes.

You will learn the requirements on preparing, delivering and reviewing a presentation for a target audience.

You will learn how to manage an ongoing relationship with a customer over a period of time. This includes helping customers articulate their needs and managing networks to ensure customer needs are addressed.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to advise, carry out and evaluate customer service strategies.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required for entry. However, we recommend students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
  • Have basic-intermediate computer skills; with access to a desktop computer or laptop, Microsoft Office suite installed and internet access with IE 8+, Chrome or Firefox.
